You can set quantity limits on your products to specify the minimum or maximum amount of a product that can be purchased per order. You can set a product quantity limit for individual products, or for product variations.

If you set a minimum or maximum quantity limit on a product, then it will display on the product details page and on the checkout page. An error message will display if a customer attempts to order a quantity above or below your limit. If your product is running low on stock and a customer attempts to order more than is in stock, then the item will appear as "out of stock".

Set quantity limit for one product

To set a quantity limit:

1. Navigate to Catalog > Products on the left-hand sidebar of your Shop dashboard.
2. Select the product you want to add a quantity limit for.
3. On the right-hand sidebar of the product details page, in the Stock Control section, click Manage stock control.
4. (optional) Enter the number of items you have in stock to enable stock tracking.
5. Select Set purchase quantity limits to specify the minimum or maximum quantity required for purchase.
6. Save your changes.

Set quantity limit for product variations

By default, any product variation you create will inherit the quality limit setting you created for the base product. However, you can set unique minimum and maximum quantity limits for each variation​ of a product. When a customer selects a variation on the product details page, the quantity values will automatically adjust.

To set quantity limits for a product variation:

1. Navigate to Catalog > Products on the left-hand sidebar of your Shop dashboard.
2. Select a product or create a new one.
3. Click the Options tab at the top of the page, then select Variations.
4. Find the desired product variation, then select Manage in the Stock column.
5. (optional) Enter the number of items you have in stock to enable stock tracking.
6. Select Set purchase quantity limits to specify the minimum or maximum quantity required for purchase.
7. Click OK, then Save.
