The UXi® platform is no longer being supported as of 2024. If your website is still on the UXi platform, you may experience service interruptions. Please contact support@marketing360.com to move your website to the Websites 360® platform.
Note: This process is only applicable for the UXi® platform and does not apply to Websites 360® sites. How to find which platform your website is using.
In this guide:
While UXi® sites publish content using the WordPress Content Management System, they do not use the typical page layout files, hosting solution, or cPanel dashboard like many other WordPress sites.
Page layouts for UXi® sites do not use standard PHP files that are normally uploaded or downloaded via FTP. Instead, the layouts are built with the Front-End Editor. This creates entries in a custom database that is hosted on Amazon Web Hosting Servers.
Most typical sites host the files in directories like the ones listed below and use FTP to upload new files or create new directories.
However, UXi® sites do not use traditional hosting. The site files are not housed in a root directory like those shown above. We utilize a content delivery network, or CDN to host 100% of the files used for UXi® sites, so the site files also reside on Amazon Web Hosting servers.
Since the are no layout files or media assets hosted on the root domain, there is nothing to access with a standard hosting dashboard like cPanel, Plesk, or Webmin.
Because of this unique file and database architecture, there is not an option to move the entire site to a new server or send layout files.
If you are interested in moving your website to another provider, then you can download a ZIP file containing the contents and files of your website (pages, posts, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, locations, and testimonials), which you can use to rebuild the website on your own host
Exporting UXi® data (pages, posts, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, locations, testimonials) is sometimes necessary and useful. If you are moving to a new host or just want a backup of your site data, then exporting your site is the answer. Once the export files are created, they can be imported by another UXi® or WordPress site.
Please note that the export tool will only download your Posts, Pages, Testimonials, and Media (images or other media assets you've uploaded). This tool is not a full site backup and does not include layout files or media assets hosted on a root domain.
To export your UXi® website contents, click on the Tools icon on the left-hand sidebar, and select Export from the drop-down menu.
On the Export page, you can choose to select to export Posts, Pages, Testimonials, Media - or select All content to export all of the above.
When you click the Download Export File button, an XML file will generate for you to save to your computer.
This format, which is called a WordPress eXtended RSS or WXR file, will contain your posts, pages, custom post types, comments, custom fields, categories, tags, custom taxonomies, and users.
Once you’ve saved the download file, you can use Administration > Tools > Import > WordPress at another WordPress site to import this data. If you are using the importer plugin, it must be enabled.
Pages, posts, and media can be filtered before exporting. This is a handy option when you only need to export specific content.
Once you've selected the content to export, click the Download Export File button to download the XML file to your computer.
