Create a Temporary Splash Page

Create a Temporary Splash Page

You can set up a single "splash page" on your website that doesn't let users visit anywhere else on your website. This is helpful if you'd like to have a temporary "under construction" page for users to visit while you are building or redesigning your website in the background.

Add a splash page

To add a temporary page:

  1. Select the Pages tab at the top of the Websites app.
  2. Click the + Add A Page button at the top of the page.
  3. Check the box next to Generic, then click Add.
  4. A new page titled "Generic" will appear at the bottom of the Pages view. Click on it and edit your content.
  5. Select Design this page at the top of this page to open the Design panel.

  6. Click on the Page tab on the right-hand side of the Design panel, and select the "gear" icon.

  7. Check the box labeled Hide Navigation, then click Save at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar. This will keep customers from seeing your other pages. You may also tick to hide the header or footer if you choose, but hiding navigation is important so it will keep visitors from visiting other pages that you are working on.

  8. Click the Pages tab at the top of the Websites app.
  9. Click the overflow menu on the right-hand side of your new splash page, and select Use as Homepage from the menu.

The new "Under Construction" page will have been created and users won't be able to view the rest of the website while it is being crafted!

Remove a splash page

  1. Click the Pages tab at the top of the Websites app.
  2. Click the overflow menu on the right-hand side of your old home page, and select Use as Homepage from the menu.
  3. Click the overflow menu on the right-hand side of your landing/splash page, and toggle Page Visibility to OFF.
