Create an Anchor Link

Create an Anchor Link

You can create an Anchor Link from your page's content blocks, letting users jump from one part of the webpage to another. This can be useful if you have a lot of text and want to give viewers the option to skip over some of the pages and get straight to the heart of the page.

To add an anchor link:

  1. Select the Pages tab at the top of your Websites app, and open the page you'd where like to add an anchor link.
  2. Locate the block you'd like to signify as the "anchor" or the block that visitors will be jumping to. Select the overflow menu in the top-right corner, and toggle on the Anchor option. Enter a unique name for the block in the text field (you'll need this for later).

  3. Refresh your browser. This will save the anchor link.
  4. Navigate to the content block that will be used as the triggering point for the jump. In the Description field of the content block, highlight the text that you'd like to use as the jumping off point, and select the "insert link" or "insert button" icon (depending on whether you want a hyperlink or a button).

  5. In the text field that appears, type in the name of the anchor link from Step 2. It should appear in the dropdown menu. All anchor links will have a # symbol in front of them.

  6. Select the anchor link from the dropdown menu, then click Add.
